Artist's Statement
My sculptures have always been figurative and naturalistic. The later works are large, sometimes life size, and are usually depictions of some significant scene or event, which is often Biblical or allegorical. In creating these, my intent is to broadly simplify the forms and gestures, so as to lead the viewer directly into the emotion expressed through the narrative.
Artist's BiographySince graduation from the Art Institute of Chicago, Nancy Cardozier has pursued her passion for the arts, filling, in turn, the roles of painter, fashion illustrator, teacher, amateur actress (very briefly!), occasional art reviewer, portraitist and lastly, sculptor. Her works in terra cotta, plaster, and bronze grace several public places as well as private collections. Besides being an active supporter of all the arts, she is proud of having authored four volumes of genealogical records and ancestral lore. |
